PROGRAM:

Two exclusive villas

SIZE:
1000+ m² of living space, three floors, five levels

CONCEPT:
Two exclusive villas, designed as a single unit, with stunning views of snow-capped alpine peaks and the Lake of Zurich.

The ‘folding’ concept: turning interiors into exteriors Zaha Hadid’s signature is unmistakable: internal and external spaces are organically integrated; the floor folds into a wall, the wall into a ceiling. The result is a three-dimensional network, with defined zones that we perceive as enclosed spaces inside but which open up organically to the outside. Open galleries and generously sized areas run through the building, providing numerous different vantage points from which to experience it on more than one level.

The elegance and character of the construction is underscored by seamless transitions from open to closed areas and other architectural elements. Terraces and other features jut out irregularly and, together with the sloping front and back façades, amplify the building’s sense of dynamism and motion. Despite its imposing proportions, the structure is light and transparent thanks to the spacious open and closed sections of the façade. Ceiling-to-floor windows provide magnificent views.

Level 1: the impressive entrance area
Each of the two villas has a floor area of well over 1000 square metres on five different levels, three of which are visible as separate floors. Both villas are reached via a wide, two-lane access road leading to the lowest floor. The carport area is designed as an attractive entrance hall, commensurate with the exclusiveness of the upper floors, and provides a fitting reception for guests. It is also the interface for the two villas. From the private foyer, each floor in the building can be reached by a separate lift or using the staircase, parts of which are concealed while others serve as spatial features.
Level 2: the extensive indoor pool landscape
Here we find a spacious pool and sauna area. The bottom of the water basin located above the ceiling is glazed, permitting light to reflect both inward and outward. The remaining area can be used as desired and offers ample space for a gym or home cinema.
Level 3: the generously sized dining area and outdoor pool
The living area consists of a single, fluid space stretching from the open kitchen through the dining area and towards the terrace in the direction of the lake. The dining area and the living area – most of which is split on two levels – flow through the room-high windows to the outside area. This takes the form of several terraces, which divide the outside into different zones. The focal points of the area are the long outdoor pools.
Level 4: the flexible living area
At the rear of this area are two rooms, each with en suite bathroom and toilet. Extending before them are flexible living areas that offer ample space for a music room, office, library or separate living room.
Level 5: the breathtaking views
The master bedrooms on the top floor are the most private area of all. From here and the rooftop terraces one has fabulous views of the lake and snow-covered alpine peaks. The dressing areas and master bathroom fold out of the bedroom and turn it into a single unit.
